It is definately something to do with my installation of IE5.5, something is amiss in there and the install programs hang when trying to check or upgrade IE. PC - PIII 450MHZ, 256Mb RAM, 6GB free HDD space, Win Me, Office 2000 SBE, Norton Utilities 2000, Norton AV 2000, Zone Alarm firewall.

Try to install IE 7 FINAL...it tells me I need to reboot first. I've got a set of boot floppies that can scan FAT partitions but are useless on XP machines which come preformated NTFS. I've been working on getting Norton AV to work off a winpe disk without success as the dos version will not run in a PE enviroment and you cannot install the 32bit version. Any Ideas?

How to disable BIOS AV?
There are many free AV programs that don't require you to uninstall other programs. Be wary of those that do. Why a computer cannot install 2 or more anti-virus software? For example, we cannot install both Mcafee and Norton anti virus software in the same computer. What is the rationale? Please advise. Thanks!

As soon as I hit the install icon in any given program, the install shield wizard only reaches 99 % and then just stops, and returns where i came from. Are you logged in as admin? Do you have any Norton AV software installed? Does this happen on *every* program? What do mean "returns"?
